Avoiding bacterial colonization on medical devices
Tractivus SL has been granted with the R&D Spanish program “RETOS 2017”
Barcelona – December 2018. Tractivus SL is pleased to announce that Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Spanish government), through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER, European Union), has funded the Development of an antibacterial urinary catheter – BioUrostent project of Tractivus SL to develop the technology to create a new urinary catheter with bacteriostatic and antifouling properties during 2018-2020.
For three years, Tractivus will lead the BioUrostent project in collaboration with three partners:

Products & Technology SL, a R&D company from Laboratorios Rubió SA, whose aim is to bring to the market new technologies relating to human health.

Institut Químic de Sarrià – Universitat Ramon Llull, Group of Material Engineering (GEMAT) led by Dr. Borrós, with over 20 years of experience in surface modification and polymeric materials.

Eurecat (Health and Nutrition Unit, Catalonia), which promote the technology transfer and the preclinical studies since 2008.
During this time, Tractivus SL and its partners will work together to design, develop and validate a new urinary catheter that can provide a definitive solution to avoid catheter associated urinary tract infections and its consequences.
